5 Things for this week

I have not been doing very well keeping up on my 5 things. This year, my allergies have just kicked my butt and I have been sick for about 2 weeks now so my energy level is really low and I have no motivation what so ever. I am trying to stay on top of stuff but I really feel like just laying on the couch all day. Bad Leah!

Here is what I had on my previous list:

1. Re-organize the camping gear. It was just tossed into the boxes when we packed up to come home. I did get a better idea of what is really needed when we're camping so the gear is going to get slimmed down quite a bit.

Didn't happen, my husband put the boxes away before I could get to them and even if he hadn't, probably wouldn't have happened anyway.

2. Clean the office again. It was the one room I ignored before leaving town.

Still working on it, it has turned into an all out re-organize and re-arrange project but I have only been able to do a little bit each day. Im whining...I know.

3. Go through my coupon binder and file, get rid of expired ones, clip new ones.

Simply overwhelmed by the sheer volumn of coupons I have to clip right now.

4. See if I can get the zipper on my favorite jeans fixed. Darn thing broke while we were camping!

$18.00 later!!

5. Inventory the freezer. My weekly meal plans have been altered at the last moment a few times because I didn't have what I thought I did. I didn't make a meal plan for this week but we have alot of stuff left over from camping anyway so we will finish it off.

I have 2 things I would really like to get done this week and both involve multiple tasks.

1. Finish re-organizing my office, which means:

a. Clean off my desk.
b. Put the other computer back together.
c. Get all my Dad's books, crap and paper work out of here.
d. Set up a table to sort coupons on.
e. Hang some curtains.

2. Clean the boy's room again, its a freakin death trap!

5 things for this week

Finally back in civilization after 4 days in the woods. We had meant to camp in our tents at Beaver Lodge but got lucky when a cabin became available because it was pouring buckets! Many thanks to Rick and Kim for thinking of us!

I was pretty please with myself since I got everything done I had planned on last week.

1. Replant the lettuce - for some reason I simply cannot determine, it isn't coming up. And the seeds were new! Plant the Spinach.

2. Get all the laundry done before leaving town.

3. Go through the camping boxes and make sure we have everything we need plus take out stuff that we won't need this trip. Pack clothes for trip. It's going to be on the cool side so we will need coats.

4. Grocery shopping for camping trip.

5. Clean the house before leaving, I hate coming home to a messy house after being gone.

It was so nice coming home to a clean house and clean sheets!

Here is my list for this week:

1.  Re-organize the camping gear.  It was just tossed into the boxes when we packed up to come home.  I did get a better idea of what is really needed when we're camping so the gear is going to get slimmed down quite a bit.

2.  Clean the office again.  It was the one room I ignored before leaving town.

5 Things for this week

It has been a couple weeks since I made a 5 things list. I have been lazy, didn't feel like doing anything really. The Pine trees have been pollinating around here and that stuff makes me miserable!

So since I have been being a couch slug it's more like 5 things in 4 days as we will be in the woods for a long weekend.

My 5 Things for this week

I didn't post a 5 Things last week because I got busy and forgot!  I did manage to get most of the things done though and a bunch of freezer meals made as well :)

1. Still have those clothes to go through! I swear, I am doing it today!

2. Re-organize and clean out the broom closet. I have been purchasing alot of cleaning supplies and really need to get them put away in a manner that lets me know what all I got, or I will forget and go buy more.

3. Clean the office and the boy's room - so much easier said then done :(

4. Buy more Squash seeds and get them started, the last batch didn't go. The seeds were 2 years old and while I have been quite successful using old seeds with other plants, these were a total no show.
5. Laundry, laundry, laundry!

6. Start planning the menu for our Memorial Day camping trip.

7. Wash the camping bedding, cookware and dishes.

This week's 5 Things:

1. Yard work and getting the garden in. Am planting lettuce, broccoli and Broccoli Rabe. Also need to spout a few of my green bean seeds to see if they are still good.

2. Find the camp cookware (where did it go?), wash it.

3. Polish kitchen appliances, they are getting pretty dull.

4. Try my very best to stay away from the grocery stores.  We have most everything we need this week outside of fresh milk and produce and I have a $5 Cat from Albertsons to use for that.  I am hoping to get my Fred Meyer reward coupons this week too so I can take both to Yokes and get the milk and produce I need for free :)

5. Clean out the email inbox! It's getting pretty ugly.

Many thanks to Tabitha at Saving for a Better Future for hosting the 5 things challenge!

5 Things for this week

Last week's list was only partially completed, but I feel really good about what I did get done:

1. I was offered an opportunity to speak to a sorority group about coupon shopping and I need to finish the presentation.  I had fun, but I am glad it's over with.

2. Give this house a good cleaning! I realized yesterday that it is quite filthy from neglect. Oh Boy, did it ever!  Got the carpet in the family room shampoo'd, mopped the rest of the house (90% of my floors are hard wood), moved the China Hutch down stairs, re-organized the china, got rid of some china....Dusted the house, re-arranged the furniture (had to move it anyway to mop).  Re-organized the freezers and pantry.  All of this actually took 2 days.

3. Re-organize the broom closet.

4. Still need to go through the boy's clothes.

5. Clean up my potting area outside, and the patio. So nice to be able to enjoy the back yard again!

This week's plan are pretty ambitious, I have more then 5 things but if I get 5 things done I will consider it a success:

1.  Still have those clothes to go through!  I swear, I am doing it today!

3.  Re-organize and clean out the broom closet.  I have been purchasing alot of cleaning supplies and really need to get them put away in a manner that lets me know what all I got, or I will forget and go buy more.

4.  Clean the office and the boy's room - so much easier said then done :(

6.  Laundry, laundry, laundry!

7.  Start planning the menu for our Memorial Day camping trip.

8.  Wash the camping bedding, cookware and dishes.

5 things for this week

Might end up being more...

Ok, so my job came to an end on Friday and I am very relieved. The boss fired my sister due to office dynamics, aka politics and since we were kind of a package deal he let me go too. For the last week, I had been trying to figure out how to leave the job without putting the agency in a rough position, so it worked out perfectly. We are on good terms and I am free to go back to my real job, taking care of my family and home :)

This was last week's list:

1. Go through the boy's clothes, get rid of the stuff that is too small.

2. Start Squash plants.

3. Change bed linens, wash and line dry if weather permits.

4. Plant the snow peas outside (their ready, Yay!)

5. Make another run at the Insurance book!
Actually, didn't do this but since I don't work for an Insurance Agency there is no point reading it now.

Here is my list for this week:

1. I was offered an opportunity to speak to a sorority group about coupon shopping and I need to finish the presentation.

2. Give this house a good cleaning! I realized yesterday that it is quite filthy from neglect.

3. Re-organize the broom closet.

4. Still need to go through the boy's clothes.

5. Clean up my potting area outside, and the patio.

My 5 things for this week

For the last month I have been participating in Saving Toward A Better Future's 5 Things Challenge. I have found that since I went back to work that if I don't make a list of things to get done, then things are just not getting done. It has been a great help while I am still adjusting to my new schedule.

Here is what I had on the plate last week:

1. Transplant my Tomato starts into larger pots and start hardening off.
I think I might have lost a few in the process, and am not sure how many of what kind I actually do have now.  I started with a dozen each Cherry tomatoes and Big Boy, but since I lost track of which are which I will end up with either a ton of Cherry or a ton of Big Boy.

2. Go through the boy's clothes and get rid of the stuff that is too small.

3. Clean off my desk (again).
Not that it mattered much because as soon as I...

4. Pay bills. (as if I haven't had enough of that to do already!)
It was all cluttered up again.

5. Start studying for my Insurance Agent License.
Just can't seem to make myself sit down to study this book, it looks boring :(

This week:

1. Go through the boy's clothes, get rid of the stuff that is too small.

2. Start Squash plants.

3. Change bed linens, wash and line dry if weather permits.

4. Plant the snow peas outside (their ready, Yay!)

5. Make another run at the Insurance book!

4/6/10

My Five things for this week

I did so-so on last week's list.  I got 3 of the 5 things accomplished:

Transplant my surviving Tomato starts into larger pots and start hardening off.

Harden off and find a spot to plant the Snow Peas.

Dust the upstairs.

Change the bedding, wash and line dry (if weather permits)

Start going through the boy's clothes, get rid of the stuff that is too small.

So this week I still need to:

1. Transplant my Tomato starts into larger pots and start hardening off.

2. Go through the boy's clothes and get rid of the stuff that is too small.

3. Clean off my desk (again).

4. Pay bills. (as if I haven't had enough of that to do already!)

5. Start studying for my Insurance Agent License.

Many thanks to Tabitha at Saving toward a better life for providing the inspiration to get me off my butt and get stuff done around here!

My 5 Things for this week

Allrighty, last week went fairly well even though I had to cram it all into the weekend.  Note to self:  Stop waiting until the weekend to get stuff done!

Here is last week's list:
Finish cleaning out the flower beds in the front yard, get the back yard garden spots prepared for planting.  Actually, the DH took care of the back yard.

Do a bunch of Freezer cooking. Made 4 batches of Taco filling, 2 Shepard's Pies, 2 Mashed Potato Casseroles, and 2 batches of Italian seasoned ground beef :)

Re-organize the Freezers. Found 5 Pork Shoulder Roasts, thought I only had 2...

Finish getting my clipped coupons organized in the binder.  Yeah right!  Like that is ever going to be a done deal!

Continue with the daily sweep/declutter routine.  This has been the easy one.  I am taking it off the 5 things list since it is something that gets done every day.

This week's list:

Transplant my surviving Tomato starts into larger pots and start hardening off.

Harden off and find a spot to plant the Snow Peas.

Dust the upstairs.

Change the bedding, wash and line dry (if weather permits)

Start going through the boy's clothes, get rid of the stuff that is too small.

Start working on my Parents Income Tax Return.

Clean up the boy's room.

Do some yard work in the front if the weather permits, if not, clean and re-organize the pantry.

Continue the daily sweep and declutter routine.

This week's list ( I know, the week's almost over but I plan on doing this stuff over the weekend)

My 5 Things for this week

Tabitha at Saving for a Better Life has started doing a weekly linky event called My 5 Things. She is challenging everyone to create a list of 5 things - just 5 things- that need to be done to become more organized.

Last week's list:

Get the laundry sorted and start washing the towels and linens.

Fold said laundry and put away.

Sweep the floor, pick up the clutter, every day.

Set out work and school clothes every night.

Start the tomato plants this week.

Not so good with the laundry, I did get it sorted and most of it folded but alas, it still sits in the baskets waiting to be put away. And, I wasn't very diligent about putting out work and school clothes every night. I just don't think that is going be happening on a regular bases.

This week's list:

Get my desk cleaned off again.

Start working on my Parents Income Tax Return.

Clean up the boy's room.

Do some yard work in the front if the weather permits, if not, clean and re-organize the pantry.

Continue the daily sweep and declutter routine.

3/9/10

my 5 things

My friend Tabitha at Saving Toward a Better Future started doing something really cool. Every week she makes a list of 5 things to get done around the house in an effort to become more organized. I think this is great!

Usually, I will note what extra chores need to be done for the week on my weekly Menu Plan, but I didn't do that for the last couple of weeks (started that new job) and as a result, my house is starting to look a bit grimy. There are 5 people in this house, so there is always dirty laundry, dirty dishes, dirty floors that need to be kept up on. I realized yesterday evening that if I don't get back into a routine for cleaning the house that it is going to be a wicked weekends worth of work!

So, here are my 5 things:

Get the laundry sorted and start washing the towels and linens.

Fold said laundry and put away.

Sweep the floor, pick up the clutter, every day.

Set out work and school clothes every night.

Start the tomato plants this week.

So, there it is. And now I off to get some chores done!
