4/27/10

BOOM!!

Did you hear that?

Gosh girls, I am so excited about this, I might just be in shock. I think that it is the BEST I have ever done at Safeway - SAFEWAY! Even though I saw what JoDee and Michele were doing, I admit I was more then a bit envious and a little bit skeptical that I could do it as well but I DID IT!

This was actually 2 different trips to Safeway, the one on NW BLVD and Ash. JoDee had generously offered to share some of her $2.00 Delimex coupons and I decided to go ahead and do the deal. I mentioned that I had been to both the other Northside Safeways and they were out of everything (so frustrating) and she reminded me of the one on NW BLVD, which I had totally spaced out.

So, I head down to pick up some more Windex (they were out, the cashier said some lady had come through the line with the last of it and told him that the shelf was now empty), the Scrubbing Bubbles (out as well). So no go on the items that had the Catalina deals but everything else I wanted was there. I have to break it down by item because those freaky Safeway receipts confuse me half to death.

1 box of Delimex Taquitos= $10.99
- $1.00 Club Card Savings
- $3.00 Store Coupon
- $3.00 Shortcuts e-coupon
- $2.00 MFR (Thanks again JoDee!)
= $1.99

2 Bags of Sun Chips @ $3.79 each = $7.58
- $1.60 Club Card Savings
- $1.00 x 2 Cellfire e-coupons
- $2.99 Free Sun Chips MFR (Facebook promo? can't recall)
= .99 cents for 2 bags!

5 Philly Cream Cheese Minis = $12.45 (this is weird)
- $10.00 Club Card Savings
- $2.75 in(.55 cent Blinky MFRs x 5 found at the Northpoint Safeway)
= .30 overage!

Total for the order = $2.68!!

So, I come home, high as a Kite from the adrenaline, proceed to start showing the booty off to my mom when she tells me that JoDee had called and said something about the Buy one get one coupons or something. I knew exactly what she was talking about and called JoDee back immediately. Sure enough, the Classico Pasta Sauce B1G1 coupon was back up! Thanks again JoDee!! Seeing how that one was a fart in a frying pan last time, hurry and print yours now! Use zip code 90210 :)

Second Trip, this time with my mom because I had alot of IP coupons and some cashiers can get weird about them.

8 Classico Pasta Sauces = $27.12
- $15.20 Club Card Savings
- $13.56 ($3.39 x 4, the cashier just let it ride) from the B1G1F coupons
= $1.64 overage!

3 cans of Green Giant Veg = $4.05
- $1.68 Club Card Savings
- $2.00 Cellfire e-coupons ($1.00/3 x 2)
= .37 for 3 cans of veg

3 boxes of Frozen Green Giant Veg = $6.00
- $1.00 Club Card Savings
- $2.00 Cellfire e-coupons ($1.00/2 x 2)
- .50 Shortcuts e-coupon (forgot about that one when I was planning the trip)
- .50/1 Any Green Giant Frozen Veg PRINTABLE X 3
= $1.00 for 3 boxes

Yuban Coffee = $7.99
- $4.00 Cellfire e-coupons ($2.00/1 x 2)
- $2.00 MFR (found at the Safeway in the 2010 Earth Day Pamplet)
= $1.99

Miracle Whip Dressing = $3.99
-$2.00 Cellfire e-coupons ($1.00 x 2)
- $2.00 MFR (same booklet as the Yuban)
= .01 overage

Even breaking this transaction down by item, I am still confused. Here is what I know, before Club Club Card the total was $49.15. After I swiped my card the total was $20.77, and after the coupons the total was $2.71!!

Total OOP for both transactions, and all that stuff = $5.39!! Just think, the Coffee was $7.99 before the e-coupons and coupon!

BOOM!!

3/9/10

Roll with it :)

Michele at Happy2bfrugal has a great list of this week's Safeway Deals!

3/6/10

I was only there for the biscuits....

Yeah right! Ok my friends, a few of you might want to sit down because I did something yesterday that will shock you.

I went to Safeway!! I know, I KNOW!

For those who don't know, I have had some pretty horrific experiences at Safeway and had stopped shopping there several months ago, outside of the occasional bottle of Milk or bag of Salad. But, my friend Michele convinced me it was worth giving them another chance and I wanted in on that Hot Pillsbury Biscuit Deal, so I put on my Safeway shopping disguise and tip-toed in.

I swear, I was just there for the Biscuit Deal. On my way to the Biscuits, I went down the freezer isle and started noticing some pretty decent prices on things that I really did want that were also part of the March Frozen Food Promo. I didn't really have a plan, but I did have my coupons so I decided to go for it. What was the worse that could happen? Getting into a screaming match with the cashier and stomping out of the store was par for the course for me and Safeway, familiar territory if you will....

Here is the list w/ prices before Club Card and coupons:

1 Yoplus Yogurt = $2.50
1 Yoplait Fiber-one yogurt = $2.50
3 Pillsbury Jr. Grands @ $1.49 each =$4.47
5 Pillsbury Sweet Rolls @ $1.89 each =$9.45
2 Pillsbury Toaster Strudels @ $2.50 each = $5.00
2 Pillsbury Savorings @ $3.99 each = $7.98
2 Kashi Lemongrass Chicken bowls @ $4.49 each = $8.98
3 Green Giant frozen boxed veg @ $2.00 each = $6.00
5 Tony's Crispy Crust Pizzas @ $1.29 each = $6.45
1 Michelina's Entrees = $1.00
1 Lucerne Coffee Creamer = $1.79
Subtotal = $56.12

Proceeding to swipe my Club Card and 2 things happen:

First, subtract Club Card savings of $13.14

$8.00 for purchasing 8 Pillsbury Biscuits
$3.00 for purchasing 2 Kashi (making them $2.99 each)
.93 cents for purchasing 3 boxes of GG Veg
$1.21 for purchasing the Yoplait Yoplus Yogurt (making it $1.29)
Subtotal = $42.98

Second, subtract E-coupons savings of $8.20

.30 Shortcuts for purchasing 2 Pillsbury Grands
.40 Cellfire for purchasing 2 Pillsbury Sweet Rolls
.40 Shortcuts for purchasing 2 Pillsbury Sweet Rolls
.55 Cellfire for purchasing 2 Pillsbury Toaster Strudels
.55 Shortcuts for purchasing 2 Pillsbury Toaster Strudels
$3.00 ($1.00 x 3) for purchasing 2 Pillsbury Savorings*
$3.00 ($1.00 x 3) for purchasing Yoplait Yogurts*

* I had these E-coupons loaded onto the card from both Cellfire and Shortcuts but I have cannot explain why they tripled up like that. Cellfire and Shortcuts do work together at Safeway, but as to why I got $3.00 off instead of $2.00 is a mystery to me. Same thing with the Yogurt, I had stacked Cellfire and Shortcuts for the Yoplait Fiber One, but it looks like it also subtracted an additional $1.00 for the Yoplus, I'm guessing.

Subtotal = $34.78

Subtract Manufacturers Coupons of $14.78

Pillsbury Sweet Rolls PRINTABLE (no longer available) = .95
wyb 2 Pillsbury Grands PRINTABLE= .30
wyb 2 Pillsbury Sweet Rolls PRINTABLE = .40
wyb 2 Pillsbury Toaster Strudels PRINTABLE = .55
wyb 2 Pillsbury Savorings PRINTABLE = $1.00
wyb 3 GG boxed Veg = .60
Yoplait Yoplus PRINTABLE = $1.00
Yoplait Fiber-One PRINTABLE = $1.00
2 Kashi Free Product coupons @ $4.49 each =$8.98

Total for the order = $20.00 and I got the $10.00 OYNO for purchasing $25.00 worth of qualifying frozen foods! So, basically $10.00 bucks!

It was a very pleasant experience. The cashier was friendly, didn't even blink at my coupons, handed over my OYNO and wished me a nice afternoon. I practically skipped out of the place! I'm tempted to try it again, but I don't want to push my luck and the OYNO is good through April 2nd. Maybe I will just wait and see what happens next week :)

2/25/10

Hey Cutie :)

Just a heads up...those 5 lb. boxes of Clementines that Safeway has on ad this week for $4.99 are actually Cuties!!

Use the $1.00 off 5 lb. box PRINTABLE or the $1.00 off MFR (2/7 SS, exp. 3/13) and grab a box for $3.99.

Yummy!!

1/23/10

Yokes Fresh Board 1/22 - 1/28

This week's Fresh Board has Boneless London Broil for $2.49/lb.

Boneless Fryer Breast for $1.89/lb.

Mangos, $1.00 each

Too bad those Cara Cara Pink Oranges aren't on sale anymore, they are delish!

So, I didn't do a Favs this week because I was getting ready to go out of town for the evening. My husband and I got a way for the day and went over to Idaho, where we stopped at the Yokes in Sand Point. I have to say, I was very impressed with that store. A huge produce department, probably one of the largest organic and naturals department I have seen outside of a Health store and the Isles where really nice and wide. Probably the nicest Yokes I have been in so far.

Anyway, I was planning on doing them when I got back but I can't find the sale papers!! My mom must have tossed them :(

It's ok :) The Northwest Coupon Lady did all the match ups for Yokes HERE.

Happy2bfrugal has an impressive Safeway haul and scenario HERE.

And Frugal Chic Living went over Albertsons quite thoroughly HERE.

So, outside of Rosauers, everything is pretty much all ready covered and there is nothing left for me to do :) Thanks Ladies!

1/13/10

Favs of the week, 1/13 - 1/1/19

I have to show off part of my Cream of Mushroom soup score. 24 cans of soup and 2 cans of French's French Fried Onions for FREE! Bonus! I got a $2.00 survey on the bottom of one of the receipts, so it pretty much paid for the 4 cans we paid $2.00 for last Saturday :)

Deal is dead now :( But, you can still get the coupons I used to pull this off HERE and the onion coupon is HERE.

This week, Happy2bfrugal did an awesome job of putting together the best deals at Albertsons and Safeway and she shared this HOT Tuna Coupon too!

Thanks for all your hard work Michele!

If you are planning on shopping Safeway this week, you definitely need to check out this information about their new e-coupon program that Frugal Chic Living has explained really well here. Thank you Crystal!

Favs of the week 1/6 - 1/12

My coupon binder is in a horrible state right now :( I have been lazy, not clipping my coupons or removing the expired ones. Bad Leah! Bad bad Leah!

I just kind of glanced at the sale papers this week - due to the condition of my binder and also trying not to shop as part of our commitment to the Eat from the Pantry Challenge. So far, we are on track and doing well, we spent $15.15 so far this week on our fresh items. Some of those will get us through next week as well, like the 10 lbs. of potatoes and 5 dozen eggs I picked up at Winco on Saturday.

Anyway, here are some things that did catch my eye. If you see something I missed (and I'm sure, that is probably everything this week) or find something hot then please leave a comment and share with us :)

12/16/09

Favs of the week, 12/15 - 12/24

This week's sales are 9 day ads, with the exception of Fred Meyer.

The big ticket item this week in grocery are the Rib-eye and Prime Rib roasts, the difference being that the Rib-eye Roast still have the rib bones attatched while the Prime Rib has them removed. We usually purchase the Rib-Eye and, since I'm married to the Butcher anyway, remove the ribs ourselves at home because there is alot of good meat between them and a nice rack of ribs makes a great meal in itself. Most stores will remove the ribs if you ask them too, but have them freezer wrapped and take them with you. Your paying for them anyway so might as well make another meal out of them later :)

Here is what is catching my eye this week, please leave a comment if I missed something or you find something real hot out there this week. And, please be careful while out and about, the roads, parking lots and sidewalks are slick! I slipped on Monday night and I think I broke my butt :( Sure feels like it anyway....

11/18/09

Favs of the week 11/18 - 11/24 The Turkey War in ON!

You know...this is one of those weeks where Everybody has the same stuff on sale so they try to outwit each other by offering free Turkeys or super cheap Turkeys if you spend a certain amount. Fred Meyer even put an ad in the paper today. Here is the breakdown.

Albertsons -

Village Market frozen basted Turkey
.37 cents per lb up to 16 lb, over 16 lb .27 cents per lb, with additional $25.00 purchase.

If you don't spend $25.00 the turkey is $1.29/lb.

Butterball frozen Turkeys, $1.59/lb.

Butterball fresh Turkeys, $1.79/lb.

Wild Harvest whole Turkey (organic), $2.49/lb.

Fred Meyer - ad on page C8

Private Selection frozen Turkey
Free if you spend $150.00 (ok, who the heck is going to do that?...but I wonder if that is store wide or just grocery...)

.49 cents per lb. when you spend $100.00

.59 cents per lb. when you spend $50.00

They don't say what the price is if you don't spend at least $50.00...(maybe, No Turkey For You!)

4 days only - 11/18 - 11/21

2 liter 7-up products, 3 for $1.00, with club card. It says limit 1 purchase of 3 per household, but I don't know how they would keep track of that, unless they are tracking it somehow with your club card.

O Organics Fresh Herbs, 2 for $4.00

Safeway is also doing a "spend $25.00 on participating products, get a $5.00 reward coupon good on future purchases"...is that an OYNO deal? The wording is weird. Anyway, I will try to get back to this later today.

Yawn....

The only thing I saw that interested me at Rosauers this week are the...

California Pizza Kitchen, $4.29 each
- $1.00 PRINTABLE

The only reason this interest me is the catalina deal for CPK going on right now, but I don't know if Rosauers is doing it or not. I have noticed that they are getting better about Cat deals though...if anyone knows about this deal working at Rosauers please leave a comment :)

Yokes -

Free Kashi Go Lean Crunch at Safeway!

** Update:  10/17/09
I just got an email from Becky S. who let me know that Walmart's regular every day price for Kashi Go-Lean is $3.00, she got 2 free boxes today!

Thanks Becky!

If you were one of the Lucky people who received $3.00 off 1 coupons for Kashi Go Lean Crunch from Vocalpoint then you are set to pick up 2 boxes for free from Safeway!!

I didn't see this in the ad, but when I was at Safeway today I noticed that Kashi Go Lean Crunch is on Sale, 2 for $6.00.

Earlier this week, I was talking to the store manager at the Safeway on Francis and Monroe (I will fill you in on that in a different post).  She mentioned to me that Safeway is launching a new sales campain where they have lowered the shelf prices on hundreds of items and you wont have to use your club card to get the sale price.  Maybe this is one of those items?

Anyway, Free Kashi!  Yay!!

Deals at Snyders/Franz Bread Outlet Store

I prefer to purchase our Bread at the Snyder's/Franz Outlet at 3024 N. Monroe St. because of the great deals they have there.  I did my weekly bread run today and thought, just for fun, I would do a side by side comparison of the prices for the items I purchased today with Safeway, since I had to go there too.

Here is what I bought, and what I paid for the items, and what Safeway charges for the same items.

  •  2 Loaves of Whole Grain White Bread, Franz price = .89 cents each for a total of $1.78.  Safeway price is $3.19 each.  I saved $2.30 per loaf!
  • 2 Loaves of San Juan 9 Grain, Franz price = $1.19 each for a total of $2.38.  Safeway price is $4.19 each or 2 for $5.00 with the club card.  I saved $6.00 w/o club card, $2.62 w/club card.
  • 1 Loaf of San Francisco Sour Dough Bread Round, Franz price = $1.19.  Safeway Price = $3.99.  I saved $2.80.
  • 1 package of French Hoagie Buns, Franz price = .89 cents.  Safeway Price = $3.39.  I saved $2.50
  • 1 package of Chocolate Chip Cookies, Franz price = $1.00.  I didn't find these at Safeway, so Im going to guess they would be in the $2.00 range.  So, I saved $1.00
  • 1 Cyrus O'Leary's Pumpkin Pie, Franz price = $4.99.  Safeway price = $8.99.  I saved 4.00!!
  • 2 boxes of Franz Mini donuts, Franz price = FREE (customer appreciation promo for spending over $10.00)  Safeway price = $2.99 each.  I saved $5.98!
  • Chili Seasoning Packet, Franz price .79 cents.  I didn't look at Safeway, so Im going to guess again and estimate that it would have been in the $1.29 - $1.39 range.  I saved atleast .50 cents.
So, I spent a total of $13.02 for 5 loaves of bread, 2 boxes of mini-donuts, 1 package of cookies, 1 package of Hoagie Buns, a Cyrus O'Leary's Pumpkin Pie, and a packet of Chili Seasoning.  The same items at Safeway would have cost me $40.40!

See why I prefer to buy my bread at the Franz Outlet store? :)

BTW, All Cyrus O'Leary's Pies are $3.99 on Saturdays!!
