Favs of the week 10/7 - 10/13 sales

    October 7, 2009

I decided a couple days ago that I am going to try something new. Instead of doing individual posts about sales at specific stores, Im going to make a list of my favorites from each store, since I shop at several different ones anyway. I have been finding alot more deals in the stores thanks to notes and comments from readers (Thank you all!) and also, now that my son has started pre-school I have a little more time to spend in each store I go to, and Im finding more deals that way too. So, here goes, my first "Favs of the week" post!

This is the first time I have received a weekly flyer from this store. Its important to remember that this market chain does NOT accept coupons. But, you can still find some great deals there.

Arm and Hammer Essentials cleaners, 2 for $1.00. I dont think I could beat that even with a coupon. I bought 10, enough to get me through the winter. These are the ones that come with an empty spray bottle and a little container of concentrated cleaning solution that will make 32 oz. of cleaner. There are 3 kinds, Cleaner/Degreaser, Glass Cleaner and Multi-surface.

Yellow Onions, 3 lbs. for .99 cents.

    Safeway:
    Friday, Saturday and Sunday Only:

    Tillamook Cheese, 2lb loaf, $3.99

Wishbone Salad Dressing, .99 cents each

NV Nut Clusters (of course!), 2 for $5.00 - see the previous post :)

Happy2bFrugal has all the killer coupon match-ups at Safeway this week.

    Yokes:

81% Lean ground beef, $1.67 lb.

    Chiquita Bananas, .28 cents lb.

    Halloween Candy, $1.88 a bag
    $1.00/1 Nestle coupons HERE
$1.00/3 Hersheys, Reeses or Kit Kat MFR (9/27 ss) exp. 10/17 - not a great coupon but it could be better if Albies has doublers on Sunday.

    Rosauers:
Rosauers is having a 13 hour Meat Sale on Thursday.
    Thursday only:
    Beef T-bone steak, $4.99 lb.
Large Wild Shrimp, 36 - 40 ct (thats considered large?) $3.99 lb.

    Weekly ad:

Fresh Express Iceburg Garden Salad, .99 cents each

    C & H Pure Cane Sugar, 5 lb. bag, $2.69 each
    .35 cents MFR (8/30 rp) exp. 11/30

    Albertsons:

This week Albertsons is doing another "Save $5 when you buy 10" on Quaker Products. There is a $3.00 off 5 MFR coupon in the Yokes Monthly Sales booklet (usually found at the customer service booth). Happy2bFrugal has great Quaker coupon match-ups HERE. Thanks Michele :)

    Cheap is good...

September 16, 2009Yesterday, my neighbor gave me a huge bowl full of ripe cherry tomatoes so Royce and I decided to make some Salsa and we needed some Cilantro and tortilla chips. Since I had the $5.00 Grocery Outlet Bargain Market coupon nagging on me to already get spent I decided to run over there and see if they had what we needed. And they did! Sometimes you get lucky there. The place is similiar to Cosco in that some products are only carried for a short time and when they are gone they are gone.

    I got:
    2 cans of Black Beans @ .59 cents each = $1.18
    2 cans of sliced olives @ .79 cents each = $1.58
    2 bunches of Cilantro = .33 cents
1 bag of Tortilla Chips = .99 cents
    1 personal seedless Watermelon = .99 cents

    Total = $5.07

So I gave the cashier my $5.00 off coupon, 2 pennies and a nickel and walked out to my car, where I found a penny in the parking lot so I picked it up. I figure, .06 cents for all this stuff ain't bad :)

$5.00 off Any Purchase coupon at the Grocery Outlet Bargain Market

    September 16, 2009

Almost missed this in the email. Click HERE to participate in a survey by the Grocery Outlet Bargain Markets for a $5.00 coupon off any purchase (excluding dairy and alcohol). The survey takes about 10 minutes and at the end you will be able to print out the coupon, which is valid through 10/10/09. But, if you want to take advantage of this you better do the survey today as it wont be around much longer.

Even if I count the Walgreens, Im still under the $50 'guideline" this week.

    Sure is getting hot

I had planned on working in my yard this morning but its already hot outside! It is suppose to be close to 90 degrees today. I know that my Texas visitor's are probably laughing but you got to remember, we still had frost not even 3 weeks ago so going from freezing to 90 in such a short period is rather hard to assimilate too. Shout out to my 4th step-cousin twice removed (I think) down there in Lubbock, TX! I appreciate you stopping by :)

Im not even going to talk about my weekly shopping this week cuz we blew it bigtime. The hamburger on Monday and then yesterday my husband brought home a case of chickens that he picked up cheap. Luckily I was able to get my neighbor across the street to go in on it so that helped but we still went over the $50.00 "guide line" by about $40.00. Good news is, we wont have to buy ground beef or chicken for a LONG, LONG time....

Earlier this week I went into the Rainbow Grocery Outlet, sometimes you can find really good deals there even though they do not accept coupons. I had a little time to kill and a notepad so I decided to write down some prices of random things in store and then compare it to Safeway since I had to there to get Milk anyway. Yes, I could have purchased Milk at the Grocery Outlet, but we recently switched to Organic Milk and Safeway actually had it on sale. Here is a list of different things around the store.

    Grocery Outlet Price = $6.99
Safeway Price = $8.99 for 33 oz. (the largest they had)

    Grocery Outlet Price = $1.99
    Buttoni Shredded Ramano, 5 oz.

Safeway didnt have the same brands, but had:

Safeway Price = 2/$4.00 (they didn't look much better)

Avina Fresh whole Crimini Mushrooms, 8 oz.
    Grocery Outlet Price = $1.99
    Safeway Price = $2.99

    Whole Fresh Pineapple
    Grocery Outlet Price = 2/$3.00
    Safeway Price = $2.99 each

    Grocery Outlet Price = 2/$1.00
    Safeway Price = $1.50 each

Closest thing to it at Safeway was Mezzetta, 10 oz. at $7.19

    Pepperage Farms Pretzel Thins
Grocery Outlet Price = .99 cents
    Safeway Price = $3.49

Nabisco Lorna Doone 100 calerie 6 pk.
    Grocery Outlet Price = $1.69
    Safeway Price = $2.50

    Nature Valley Granola Bars
Grocery Outlet Price = .99 cents
    Safeway Price = $3.79

In general, I wasn't that suprised as I have been shopping at the Grocery Outlet for several years, used to go with my Mom when I was a kid, but I also know that you do have to be careful about what you buy there because they can be (in a few cases) actually higher then what you would pay somewhere else with a coupon. That being said, I always buy my Parmasan, Gorganzola and Gouda (my much beloved stinky fromages) there because it is considerably cheaper. Coffee is almost always a better deal there, even when compared to Cosco or weekly sale ads by other stores. As with any store you go too, watch the "best by" dates. Grocery Outlet does not sell expired items, but some of them are pretty close dated. But then again, Ive seen the same thing at Walmart so I guess its not here or there really.

Next week, Ginger and I plan on going on a Free Spree, we are going to hit every Walgreens, Right-Aid, Walmart and Target on the Northside and pick up any and everything we can get for free or near free with coupons. It should be a fun day, even if we dont find anything. There is this gal (not sure if she lives in Spokane or not) who does this and then sells it all at her yard sales, and making some good money. Very Clever!
