Yokes Fresh Board, 12/11 - 12/18

Hot on the board this week....

Whole Fryer Chickens, .89 cents per lb.

Lean Ground Beef, $1.57 per lb, any size package! (In case you missed it when it was $1.49/lb a few weeks ago)

Avocados, $1.00 each

Today is also a Fresh Friday!! We have been waiting all year for Fresh Dungeness Crab and I heard that this year they are fat, averaging around 2 and a half pounds per crab. That's huge! They should average between 3 and 4 cups of meat after cleaned. Yokes will clean them for free if you don't want to go through the mess or hassle of doing it yourself, but if you don't plan on eating them in the next few days you might want to take them home whole. I have found that they stay fresher longer that way and I will be posting a "How to Clean a Dungeness Crab" pictorial this weekend.

Red King Crab legs, $7.99 per lb. or Extra Large for $14.99 per lb.

EZ Peel Prawns, 51 - 60 ct. (that is how many per lb., so they really are not very big) $3.99 per lb. or 16 to 20 ct for $6.59 per lb.

Fresh Express Garden Salad, shredded Lettuce or Coleslaw mix, $1.00 each.

7-Up/Dr. Pepper 12 packs, $2.50 each, (look for $1.00 off one peelies and get them for $1.50 each)

Don't Forget! Yokes accepts competitor coupons, so save yourself the trouble of running down to Albertsons for the Cheetos and sour cream and just pick them up while your at Yokes :)

Also, if you are on the northside around the 5-mile area, you should have received a post card from Rosauers with a coupon for $10.00 off of $50.00 good only at the 5-mile Rosauers. See above :)

Seriously? They will clean them??? For FREE?? Wow! I just pay on the whole crab weight? They clean while I shop, then I pick-up the crab meat?

My mother-in-law was going to stop by there today. She didn't want to get the Dungeness because she didn't want to hassle with them - I will call her and give her this tip.

Thanks so much Leah!

I just realized the cleaning and cracking are different, still pretty excited.

I should have explained that better :( Im pretty exicited about them too, we love the Dungeness crab but only buy it in season. But yes, you do still have to crack the meat out of the legs and body though it is alot more fun to do if you don't have to get rid of the icky insides as well :)

I should mention as well that the amount of meat you get will vary depending on how well you are able to crack the crab meat out. Being married to the butcher is especially useful for this particular task.

I just went to Indian Trail and got my crab. It is REALLY nice!!! I just might go back for more before the day is over. They are super meaty.

Leah,

I just wanted to make sure I understood. Yokes will take the $10/$50 coupon from Rosauers?

Yes, I went through the assistant manager's line with it on Friday (the lady with shorter hair and the German accent), she didn't even blink :)
