Coupon Organization - cheap Zipper Binders at the Spokane Discount

If you have been considering going to the Binder Method for organizing your coupons, then you might want to stop by the Spokane Discount store on N. Division. I was in there today and picked up a new 3 ring zipper Binder with a handle for $4.99. Since these usually run $10.00 or higher, I decided to grab one.

As you can see, it comes with section dividers and the one I grabbed also has a calender in it (which will be applied to some other task, possibly a chore calender as we seem to be having "issues" with getting house work done lately), as well as several zippered pockets both inside and out of the binder for your scissors, pens, notepads, calculators....etc.

And, it also has a section for filing things in, like your Store coupon policies, extra coupon inserts that you haven't gotten around to cutting out yet...what every else you like to keep handy when your carting around your coupons.

I went to the Binder method several months ago, and love it! But, it seems like as my storage space for coupons increased, so did the amount of coupons I was finding and carrying around with me. I'm at the point of actually needing 2 Binders now, 1 for food and grocery, the other for Health and Beauty, pet and paper....which makes me wonder....might I have too many coupons?

Naw!! That's just crazy talk!

On page C8 of todays paper there are a couple coupons that will be valid from 11/6/09 to 11/8/09 at the newly rebuilt Hancock Fabrics at 1020 W. Francis Ave.

There has been a lot of blog chatter about the "Spend $30.00 get a $15.00 OYNO on participating products" this week. Happy2bFrugal and Frugal Chic Living have some great scenarios posted so be sure to check out them out before heading out to Albertsons. Thank You Michele and Crystal!!

the coolest thing happened at Walgreens today

I went over the Walgreens on E. Wellesley and Crestline today for a couple reasons, 1. It is close to my daughter's house, and I needed to drop off some stuff for her and 2. The cashier that usually works at the cosmetic counter is a coupon queen too and knows the best way to work it at Walgreens!

So, here is what I got:
  • 2 Vick's NyQuil $4.50 each = $9.00
  • 2 Herbal Essences shampoo @ $3.50 each = $7.00
  • 6 Hunts tomato sauce @ .80 cents each = $4.80
  • Tax = $1.39

Subtotal = $22.19

Minus:

  • Walgreens in-ad store coupon for tomato sauce = $2.80

Subtotal = $19.39

Minus MFRs:

  • $1.00/3 x 2 Hunts Product PRINTABLE = $2.00
  • $1.50 MFR (11/1 P&G insert, exp 11/30) = $1.50
  • $1.00 MFR (11/1 P&G insert, exp 11/30) = $1.00

And...Here is where it gets cool :)

  • 1 B1G1 Free Herbal Essences (10/11 P&G insert, exp. 11/30) = $3.50
  • Free Herbal Essences product coupon from the FaceBook promo = $3.50!

I wasn't sure if using the B1G1 coupon with the free product coupon was going to work, and neither was the cashier so we were both pretty surprised when it did. And, it still gave me the RR for it as well, so I got paid $2.00 to buy 2 bottles of shampoo!

Subtotal for MFRs = 11.50

Total cash spent = $7.89

AND I got the $2.00 RR for buying 2 Herbal Essences and a $3.00 RR for buying 2 NyQuil!! That is like spending $2.89 for 2 bottles of Shampoo, 2 bottles of NyQuil, and 6 cans of tomato sauce.

Anyway, I think that's pretty cool :)

This week's shopping is done!

And then some....

Since I went through the freezers yesterday and fashioned our weekly menu around it, there were only a few fresh items that I needed to pick up in order to have that we need for all of our meals and snacks this week.

Not to say that I wont shop again, because I can't help myself sometimes, and Im sure not going to leave that free tomato sauce at Walgreens!

Anywhoo....as I was saying, there wasn't much that needed to be added for our meals but it was time to go back to the Franz Bread outlet anyway so I just decided to get it all done in one trip and call it good for the week.

Here's the breakdown:

Franz Bread Outlet:

  • 1 loaf of Seattle International Sliced Sour Dough Bread
  • 2 - 2 lb. loaves of Whole Grain White Bread
  • 1 loaf of San Juan Island 9 Grain
  • 1 package of Whole Wheat BBQ buns

    Subtotal = $5.70, basically $1.14 each
    Plus:

  • 1 Cyrus O'Learys Strawberry Rubarb Pie for $4.99 - note to Leah, don't take the DH to the bread store with you ever again.

  • Total at the Bread Outlet = $10.69 and since I spent over $10.00 I was able to pick out a free item and I choose a Bag of Stuffing crutons, for Thanksgiving.

    Then I went over the the Rainbow Grocery Bargain Market (the one of N. Division is my fav) and picked up:

  • 1 container of shredded Parmasan Cheese @ $1.99
  • 1 small chunk of smoked Gouda Cheese @ $2.00 Yummy!
  • 1 - 3 lb. bag of Yams @ $2.49 (this is a steal, they are running anywhere between $1.29 to $1.89 per lb in the stores!) Click on the word "Yams" there to see what the difference is between Yams and Sweet Potatoes
  • 1 head of green cabbage @ $1.79 - not really sure if thats a deal but I didn't want to go anywhere else.
  • 1 bag of garden salad @ .99 cents

  • Total spent at the Grocery Outlet = $9.26

    So, for a total of $19.95, I got all that I need to finish off this week's meals and snacks and all the bread we will need for the next 2 weeks... I think I did alright :)

    Maybe I will be able to get around to that Banana Bread I want to make, and I have also been thinking about making up some home made Bisquick Mix with all that cheap Flour we scored on a few weeks ago.

    Menu Planning Monday

    Yipee! Sunday again and time to plan this week's menu.

    I did a freezer re-con today to see what we had and what we are low on. I was suprised to see that we are getting really low on ground beef, and that we also have alot of frozen Bananas in there! So this week, I am going to try to make a few batches of our favorite Banana Bread to get those things used up and make room. This week's menu is based on other items I found in the freezer that we need to eat as well, since they have been there a while and I don't want to take the chance that they will go bad. Stuff can spoil in the freezer :(

    Many thanks to the Organizing Junkie for hosting the Menu Plan Monday event. I encourage you to go check it out, there are some really awesome recipes to be found on all the different Blogs that participate. I saw a few this week that will definately be on a future menu.
