Today's Haul

Colby and I hit 3 stores today and he was actually very good while we were shopping. Usually he has a 2 store limit before he goes into melt down so Im pretty proud of my little guy today.

Store #1: Rosauers at the Y

4 bags of Wacky Mac, sale price $1.00 each
- .75 cents off 1 IP coupons

Total = $1.00 for 4 bags or .25 cents each

Store #2: Albertsons on Indian Trail

19 pouches of Starkist Tuna = $23.75 ( I meant to get 17 but I guess a couple packages were stuck together and I didnt notice it)
2 boxes of Rice Krispies = $3.98
1 bottle of Kraft Salad Dressing = $1.99

Subtotal = $29.72

- $10.00 for buying 20 of the promotional items

Subtotal = $19.72

Total Coupons: $10.50

Subtotal = $9.22

- $1.00 Albertson Doublers x 3 = $3.00

Subtotal = $6.22
- $1.00 OYNO I had from the last Tuna haul

I got 3 more $1.00 OYNO so thats like paying $2.22 for all that stuff. And my receipt has a $2.00 OYNO for doing a survey, so thats like paying .22 cents for all that stuff. The 2 extra Tuna kind of upsets me, but its my own fault for not paying attention. Had I been aware of it, I could have asked for another $1.50 off coupons. Live and Learn.

Store #3: Yokes on Indian Trail

4 packages of Chinet Paper Plates, sale price 2 for $5.00

Subtotal = $10.00
- $1.00 off 1 Chinet IP coupon (see the previous Rosauers post to get those ones) x 2 = $2.00

An Albertsons scenerio

It seems that I spoke too soon when I said that there was nothing I needed or wanted from Albertsons because I started looking at some of the Catalina coupons I got last week and figured out the following scenerio.

7 pouches of Starkist Tuna @ $1.25 each = $8.75
2 boxes of Rice Krispies @ $1.99 each = $3.98
1 Kraft Salad Dressing @ $1.99 each = $1.99

Subtotal = $14.72

- $5.00 for purchasing 10 of the qualifying items

Subtotal = $9.72

- $2.50 off 7 pouches of Starkist Tuna catalina coupon I got for buying 6 a few days ago.

Subtotal = $7.22

- $3.00 in MFR coupons ($1.00 off 1 Rice Krispies x 2, $1.00 of 1 Kraft Salad dressing.

Subtotal = $4.22

- $3.00 for 3 Albies Doublers at $1.00 x 3

Subtotal $1.22

- $1.00 OYNO I got for buying 5 Tuna Pouches

Total = .22 Cents

Plus, I will get another $1.00 OYNO for buying the Tuna, which means I just made .78 Cents!!

I would be an idiot not to go for this.

One thing I really like about using the Albertsons Doublers at Yokes is that you are not limited to just 3 per transaction, so if you have 6 or 9 or more then you can use them all on the same order. Much easier then setting up multiple transactions at Albertsons or taking your stuff out to the car in between orders. I had 18 on one order once, Im sure the cashier wanted to rip out her hair by the time I was done but she never said a word to me about it.

And, when you are using Albertsons Doublers, or any competitor's coupons, here is a little advice to make to transaction go much quicker and smoother. When placing your items on the belt, put the coupons for that item with it. This way, when the cashier goes to scan the item and the coupon they can also do the Doubler at the same time which means that they wont have to dig back into the bags to find the item and then scroll through the register to figure out how much to take off. In the case of a competitor's coupon, they wont have to remove it from the order and then re-enter it at the price listed on the coupon. Yokes will take competitors coupons, but they dont give overages and if a cashier accidently does give one then they might get in trouble because it messes up the cash count in their till.

So, on Friday, July 10, Yokes is doing the "School's Out...What's for Lunch?" Food Drive with 2nd Harvest and KXLY 4. Im hoping that Albertsons puts more Doublers in the Wednesday paper and if they do I want to try doing a Free Spree and donating everything to the Food Drive. So, lets all keep our finger's crossed and hope for more Doublers!!

A Garden Update

Happy 4th of July !!!

So, its been a while since I mentioned my garden this year and I figured it was time for an update. The green beans that I had started early are doing great! I picked the first little batch of bush beans just yesterday and will be able to pick more on Sunday. The pole beans are climbing off the pole already and have started to bloom.

Here is my beet and lettuce patch, the lettuce is struggling a bit and Im not sure why, usually it is pretty easy to grow but for some reason this year its just not doing so well. We had to put a net over this garden spot for a while because the birds were eating the lettuce. I was able to pick some yesterday though and it made a delicious salad. I think the beets are doing ok, this is the first year I have grown them so if they aren't I wouldn't be able to tell. The black weedblocker between the rows is a life saver! It really has worked in regards to blocking weeds (which I seem to be able to grow really well) but the only place I need to weed is between the plants and that has made it much easier.

We also had some tomato plants, but they got the aphids real bad and I had to pull them out. I will plant a couple more and hopefully they will make it. I didn't figure out what was wrong with the tomato plants in time to save them.

This last photo is of my Squash garden. Its not a very good picture. We planted them on a slope that faces west in our back yard and they seem to love it there. I have 2 kinds of Acorn squash and another winter variety that I cant recall the name of right now.

These plants should produce enough squash to get through the whole winter with. I have 7 plants in this area and 3 more in the front yard flower beds. If each plant produces 3 or 4 squash I will probably be able to give several away.

We also planted a row of New Zealand Spinach and 6 Raspberry plants this year too and both are doing nicely.

Have a safe and Happy 4th of July!! We are going back up to the cabin at Deer Lake and spending the day with family.
