Weekly Shopping Diary 5/31-6/6

This week I spent on groceries:

$1.98 at Rainbow Grocery Outlet
$6.50 at Walmart
$4.34 at Albertsons
$10.03 At Safeway
$7.43 at Rosauers
$20.38 at Yokes

Total Spent: $50.66

I Saved(combined store savings and MFRs):

$2.10 at Rainbow
$10.34 at Walmart
$18.93 at Albertson
$16.07 at Safeway
$8.10 at Rosauers
$41.43 at Yokes

Total Savings: $78.10

Not to bad really. My husband just informed me that he "forgot" to tell me that he had brought home 2 Corned Beef roasts that they had marked down so that adds, at my best guess since I dont have the reciept, about $5.00 to the total spent.

Still not bad. Im thinking I can probably take a week or 2 off from shopping as the freezer is pretty stuffed and we got a summers worth of cereal, coffee, canned and boxed food. I plan on doing some freezer cooking and get a supply of easy to heat and eat dinners on hand for the summer.

Great shopping day!

This morning I wasnt so sure how today was going to go, Colby was in full on melt down and not cooperating with me while I was trying to get him ready for school and it just seemed like today was going to be a rough one.

But then, I called over to Yokes to ask my husband a question and he says to me " Are you planning on coming to the store to shop today?"

I say " I dont know, why?"

He says, " There are 2 new cashiers starting today and they want you to bring in your coupons so they can train the cashiers."

I say, " You mean they want me to bring in ALL my coupons?"

He says " Yes, are you coming in today?"

First and foremost, I have never had any problem using other stores coupons at Yokes.

So, I spent about an hour matching up some of this week's ad items and the monthly ad items to Manufacturers coupons and then threw an Albertson's doubler on it as well. I had 7 items all together. First of the month sales are kinda boring.

I got:

4 boxes of Diet 7-Up (12 ct)
Yokes ad price: $2.99 = $11.96
- $1.00 MFR x 4 = $4.00 = $7.96
- Albies doublers at $1.00 x 4 = $3.96
divide by 4 = .99 cents per box.

Organic Valley Milk
Yokes ad price $3.49
- $1.00 MFR = $2.49
- Albies doubler at $1.00 = $1.49

Kens Salad Dressing
Yokes Monthly ad price 2/$5 ($2.50 each, I got 1)
- $1.00 MFR = $1.50
- $1.00 Albies doubler at $1.00 = .50 cents per bottle.

Snyder's Pretzels
Yokes Monthly ad price 3/$5.00 ($1.67 each, I got 2 = $3.34)
- $1.00/2 MFR = $2.34
- Albies doubler at $1.00 = $1.34
divided by 2 = .67 cents each

Total spent: $7.29!! For 7 items! The 7-up alone usually cost more then that for just 1!

So, I was already pretty flattered that they had asked me to come in today but as we were going through the check out (which took some time, not only because I had the coupons but the training process as well), I looked around and realized that there were 4 maybe 5 other people just standing around the check out stand watching. The store manager came over because of the crowd, saw me, kinda chuckled and says "Oh, we're doing some training here."

And when it was totalled one of the new cashiers said "Wow, thats great, where do you get all your coupons?"

As you all know, the paper, the internet, tearpads.....

It was really cool because I had been at Albertson's before that and the cashier there complimented me on my coupon usage as well.

Plus, Colby got to use a coupon today too. I gave him one of the free M&M coupons I had, let him pick out what he wanted, and then he went through the check out and paid for his treat with his coupon (it was cute). And it kept him from becoming the check out melt down monster :)

As I said, I had been to Albertsons earlier and picked up 2 bags of Seattle's Best Coffee and a jar of Miracle Whip for $3.34

I was also at Rosauers and picked up 7 boxes of cereal for $7.43

I spent a total of $18.06 for everything. And I wont have to buy cereal or pop or coffee for a long, long time.

Rosauers 13 hour cereal sale - June 4th only

Here are some cereal coupon match ups, all cereals are on sale for $1.79 per box, no limit. I have literally have seen people with 4-5 carts full of cereal at these sales. I recommend going to the Rosauers at the Y, the one at 5 mile gets real crazy on these sale days.

Click here for $1/2 coupons for General Mills Cheerios (any), Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Whole Grain Total, Kix, Trix, Cocoa Puffs and Lucky Charms. There is also a .55 cents off 1 Lucky Charms. As well as the $1/3 Insert (dont recall which Sunday) that expires on 7/11/09. Hot Coupon has another listed to expire on 6/13/09.

I would rather have the $1/2 myself to get the boxes for $1.29 each.

At some point in the past I printed out $1/1 for Kelloggs Corn Pops, Apple Jacks, and Fruit Loops but they dont seem to be available any longer. If you have them, it will make the boxes .79 cents each.

Malt-o-Meal is offering .50 cent coupons for Blueberry Muffin Tops, Honey Graham Squares, and Honey & Oat Blenders, making those bags $1.29 each.

Organic Valley Milk is on sale for $2.69, print this coupon and get it for $1.69.

Ginger and me had a little free spree today :)

My daughter and I went on a little free spree today, just for fun, to see what/if we could get some things for free with coupons. I think we did alright.

At Rosauers we got:

4 boxes of Jollytime Microwave pop corn on sale for $1.49 per box
less our $1.50 off 1 x 4 = .04 cents profit.

At Walmart we got:

7 Evercare mini lint rollers for .79 cents each = $5.53
less our $1.00 off any x 7 = $1.47 profit

At Target we got:

5 Hersheys Bliss candy Bars at .99 cents each = $4.95
less our Target store $1.00 off any x 5 (which was adjusted to .99 cents) total = $0.00
4 Crystal Light 3 packs at .99 cents each = $3.96
Less our $1.00 off 1 coupons = .04 cents profit
2 Arm and Hammer Travel size Toothpaste at .79 cents each = 1.58
Less our $1.00 MFR off( I think it was the 5/31 insert) any x 2 = .42 cents profit.
1 Tylenol trial size at .97 cents
Less our $1.00 off any = .03 cents profit.
I dont think that this particular coupon is still available.
2 Kraft Mayonnaise, on sale for $1.99 each = $3.89
Less our $1.00 off x 2 = $1.98
Less our $1.00 off Target Store coupons (adjusted to .99 cents) = $0.00
We also got 1 Edge Men's shaving gel for .24 cents by combining the Target Coupon and a $1.00 MFR my mom sent me. But considering we had at .49 cent overage it still was basically free.

We also went into Walgreens to do the Ecotrin deal, but we unfortunately encountered the Coupon Nazi Manager. She would not take the $2.25 coupon because it was over what the sale price of the Ecotrin was. I asked if she would adjust the price of the Ecotrin and get this she said that it was a violation for them to raise retail prices....I'm thinking WHAT, stores raise their prices every day, not to mention I had already used one of the coupons at a different Walgreens and got the full $2.25 off...anyway, I found these $2/off Any Ecotrin from Iheartwags so I will get my free aspirin and get paid for buying them too with the $2.00 RR. So there, Coupon Nazi Manager!

We purchased other things too so our profits went toward those items. It was a fun day, even Ginger said so. When she was little, I used to carry coupons around in a pink rubbermaid box and she was sooo embarrassed. Im using some accordion style folders I got at the Dollar tree now but Im thinking I might have to migrate to the Binder Method as these little folders are about to explode with all my coupons and are getting a bit cumbersome to carry around and look through.

New sales tomorrow! I will do Yokes and Rosauers match ups tomorrow or Thursday.
